MyerstownTV - Episode 1

Fiddle Making/Repairing, MyerstownTV, Philosophical

Here is the first video to inaugurate the new MyerstownTV idea I had. This episode deals with the “culture” aspect of my slogan which is: “Sustainability, Culture, and the pursuit of Grace”.

Sustainability, indicates that whatever it is that I am doing it must first be sustainable and not destructive. So farming practices and living standards change to meet this value. In farming, it means not making the ground toxic by using chemical applications such as synthetic fertilizers or synthetic pesticides. I living standards, it means eliminating dependence on thing we “think” we need. Electricity use, Fuel consumption, and Materialism are the main sources of dependence for Americans. Cutting down on those dependencies frees us up for time with our families, our friends, and God.

Culture, indicates that whatever we do, we need to remember that work is not everything. Work is something we were designed to do by God in the Garden of eden so it will be there when we get back to it. What we need to remember is that God gave us the ability to learn how to make musical instruments, he gave us the ability to dance, and to praise him; he gave us the ability to bring glory to his name in the work we do and the pleasure we have in our relationships. All these things remind us to remember to have fun and to create traditions that our children can remember and hold as an absolute so that they can return year after year when all else may be in shambles.

The Pursuit of Grace, indicates we cannot ever hope to find our place in this world unless we find the Grace of God first. All the work that could ever be done could never be fulfilling unless the Grace of God was provided to us. Work is hard, but it is rewarding when you have a stake in a claim to the glory God has to offer. That is why I choose to include God in our daily living.
