Okay so really its not going to be used as a blog…rather I am going to us it as a website because its easy to update.

I want to be a farmer full time some day and so I thought that until then I would do what I can to prepare for the venture of Marketing…Production…Advertisement…and Sales. So this new site is to help promote the veggies that I plan on selling. Sure I dont have a lot like I would if I was farming full time but I hope that I can mainly use this site to have a place to point people to if they are interested in buying anything from me.

My last name is Myers and I envision a pioneer town of hand hewn Log cabins and Timber Frame Barns. A place that people can come to see a town that produces its own goods for its town…with no outside input. I call this town Myerstown. It is set on the Myerstown Family Farm (in my mind) and uses no electricity. Rather it uses horse power and water power for energy sources.

Canning is done on a wood cookstove and the canned goods are sold at the General Store that set in the middle of Myerstown. The fields supply groceries for sale at the General Store. Home made goods such as Baskets, soaps, and blankets (all hand made…with the exception of a treadle sowing machine) would be sold. A blacksmith shop across the road produces the necessary hardware for constructing buildings and daily living. It produces additional goods for sale in the General store.

I envision a place where music is played Old-Time style so that if you want to kick up a jig dance on the General Stores front porch…you can! Festivals would mark the calendar for Music…Crafts…Produce…Gardening…and Historical information to teach people how to be self sustainable and enjoy it while doing so. It would be a place where Morals based on a standard called “The Bible” would be established and my children and others’ children would grow up with a Strong work ethic and an understanding of what is important in life (and it is not money).

This is a big vision…and I am sure I will have a lot of critics. But I feel that with my interests and abilities…and with God’s help…I can produce a viable alternative to the hustle and bustle of daily life. Bring people to a place to see how we can solve a lot of issues of the world if we begin to work together to make life enjoyable…rather than profitable. The Goal is not to become Rich with money…rather, it is to become Rich with Character, Rich in Laughter, and Rich in Peace and Joy.

There are a lot of logistics that would go into building this Dream but taken one at a time, each river is crossable. Its a life time’s work. Its not the Destination we are here for, it is the Journey that God has prepared for us that were here for.
