Lots of Different Stuff

Miscellaneous Stuff

We have had lots to do this summer, much more this year then last. We had a visit a couple weekends ago from my sister who took a lot of these pictures (all of the good ones).

This week end we picked up 50 pounds of tomatoes from the garden and now that the green beens came back to life after almost dieing of thirst over the summer we finally got another 4 pounds of green beens….but that is nothing compared to the 25 pounds during the peak of there production.

Below are just a few pictures to kind of give you an idea of what we been up to.

The Guardians of my Garden. After almost loosing my broccoli to insect predation, I went out and wasted money on 7-dust and polluted my garden with the stuff in a desperate attempt to save the crop. What a stupid thing to do. I didn’t know that not only would it be a temporary fix but it would also destroy my garden piece by piece because it kills all of the bugs including good ones that hourly Guard the garden against predators.

So I went out and washed off all of the 7-Dust (once I learned about all the different harmful affects of it) and started looking for spiders (in particularly Garden spiders like the one above). I have not had a horn worm or any of the cabbage worms. They are making headway on a particular but I don’t know the name of yet…it stinks when you smash it though.

My tiny basket to lug tomatoes to my bigger container (an old time water boiler)

My wife displaying our Cherokee Trail of Tears Green beans.

Another predator! Only this one I can handle. I cought this guy getting his fill of my tomatoes I put a Finger nail polish mark on his back (the number 1) and let him free on the opposite side of my place.

The Green bean’s flower.

Me showing off my Prize Heirlooms

In this picture I could lug that boiler full of tomatoes by my self. But Sunday I had to have help from brandy.

I keep track of how much we get from our garden because in the future I want to know how to manage my garden and I need to know what the average production is of each plant in our area.

A sea of Tomatoes!

Work is done its time to fiddle around.

Whats left of the Corn.

The Sunflower and the bug that is all over my garden (the one the spiders are working so hard to get rid of).
Fried Green Tomatoes anyone?

This is what 50 pounds of tomatoes looks like. I had one tomato that weighed 1.54 lbs!
Thats Huge!

Here is a video of the Missouri State University “Ozarks Heritage Festival” Jam session I was at this Saturday. It rained the whole day so we moved the “Fiddler’s Green” inside the building of one of the Academic buildings. Not as many fiddlers showed up as a result.

Any way Hope you enjoyed the pictures and the video.
